Cars
As our name suggests, some of the band members are keen classic car enthusiasts, which is why we often like to combine our love of music with classic car festivals. For other classic (and not-so-classic) car lovers out there, here are some details about our pride and joys.
We have numbered them in Thunderbirds style, although they are more likely to be driven into a swimming pool rather than emerging from out of one. F. A. B.!
OBF 1
1953 Standard Eight
Nickname "Stan".
The Standard Eight was introduced in 1953, available for the princely sum of £481. 7. 6. which is roughly 481 times the cost of Troy's Egmond bass.
The cheapest four-door saloon on the market, it boasted independent front suspension, hydraulic brakes and an economical O.H.V. engine.
It also looks like a little happy frog from the front.
OBF 2
1950 Aston Martin Lagonda 2.6 litre
Nickname "The Special" or "The Hedge Ornament".
David Brown loved the W O Bentley-designed engine so much, he bought the company and so the DB series of Astons was born.
This is yet another of Trev’s projects which he will some day be getting round to ... or buried in (actually, Trev wanted to be cremated, but his wife says he should be interred - or at least he thinks that's what she said!).
It sports an engine completely rebuilt by the Aston Martin Works only 9000 miles ago. Mind you, that was in 1967, so it is unlikely to be going anywhere fast ... or at all.
OBF 4
2012 Ford Focus
Nickname "Frank".
Widely considered to be one of the dullest and safe cars on the planet, Rich's Ford Focus has had a chequered past, requiring a complete engine change at 110K due to a catastrophic oil leak.
With a stylish, yet uninspired charcoal interior and multiple cupholders it does at least boast enough space in the boot for a guitar and amp which is all Rich cares about!
OBF 5
2018 Nissan Qashqai
Nickname "Delores".
Pride of Sunderland, the impossibly-named Qashqai is a compact crossover SUV, according to Wikipedia.
Roughly translated, Qashqai means "A horse with a white forehead" which may or may not be an indication of its handling around corners.
Fun fact: the word Qashqai is an impressive minimum single word score of 28 in Scrabble, with opportunities for big scores around triple word zones.
